MEDICATION MANAGEMENT

Medication management is a service that makes sure people take the right medicines for mental health conditions like depressionanxiety or bipolar disorder. It helps people feel better while reducing side effects and avoiding problems with other medications.

The use of medication to control the symptoms of mental illness and substance use disorders can be a helpful part of recovery. Our goal is to provide each person with the treatment and support they need to recover from mental illness and substance use disorders.

Here’s how it works:

  1. Initial Assessment: An initial comprehensive clinical assessment will be completed to gather information about your symptoms and medical history. This helps decide if medication is needed. After that, you may be referred to a psychiatric prescriber for additional assessment.

  2. Starting Medication: If needed, the doctor will prescribe medicine and start you on an appropriate dose. The dose can be changed later based on how you respond.

  3. Monitoring: You will have regular visits with your provider, which may include laboratory tests as needed, to see how well the medicine is working and to talk about any side effects. The doctor may adjust the dose or change the medicine if needed.

  4. Patient Education: You will learn how to take the medication, what side effects to look out for, and what to do if you miss a dose. This helps you manage your treatment better.

  5. Support: Sometimes, family members or caregivers help you stay on track with taking the medicine, especially if it’s hard for you to remember to do so.

  6. Stopping Medication: If the medicine is no longer needed, the doctor helps you slowly stop taking it to avoid withdrawal or other issues.

This process helps people with mental health conditions feel better and live healthier lives by using the right medicines in the right way.
